It is now common practice on many spinning reels to oversize the braking capacity in relation to the fish targeted and the tools used. For example, you'll never be able to push the Vanford to its limits, as the 2500 to 5000 models have a maximum braking power of 7 to 9 kg... 4kg is often a maximum for standard use!

My feedback
Personally, I've owned 3 models for the past 2 years, a 3000, a 4000 and a 5000, which I rinse after every ride, of course, and to which I regularly add a drop of oil and grease. Over the last two seasons, they've undergone intensive use (30-40 outings a year) and show no play or friction. Thanks to their light weight, they are very comfortable to use on long fishing days and are easy on the hand.
