Hello Laure and François, how long have you owned or operated the store?
The store has been in existence since October 2013. For six years we were based in Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune, and in 2019 we moved to Le Creusot.
Why did you decide to run a fishing store?
The idea for this project came from my husband, François. A project that combines work and fish.
How did you become a fishing enthusiast?
François started fishing as a child with his parents. A childhood spent by the water, fishing for every possible species. Today, François has a real passion for pike fishing, which he never fails to pursue from the shore or by boat, and I accompany him whenever I can.
Can you tell us about the store?
Loisir Pêche is located at 7 rue de Chanzy in the town of Le Creusot in the Saône-et-Loire department. The store covers an area of 250 m² and offers over 13,000 items. All the major brands are listed: Fox, Sensas, Korda... We also offer our customers a wide range of baits, worms, maggots and livebait.
What do you think of France's fishing economy?
The economic situation is difficult for everyone, and it's true that it's rather up and down. But we're lucky to have three very active AAPPMAs close to us. Which is not really the case with the FNPF! Unfortunately.
If there was one thing you could change about your job, what would it be?
To tell the truth, I'm not sure. Maybe just some support from the French recreational fishing authorities.
And the one you'd like to keep at all costs?
For us, customer relations are, and always will be, the crucial element in our business.
Why do you think your customers buy from you?
The reasons are simple: we offer our customers a wide choice of fishing techniques. Prices are affordable and we do our utmost to welcome and, above all, satisfy our customers.
Do you still have time to go fishing?
My husband goes more than I. (Smiles). But we tried to give ourselves more free time, so we closed the store on Mondays to be able to continue fishing.
