The Supernova Junior, one of the smallest powered kayaks on the market

The Supernova Junior has just arrived in the 2024 catalog. What's been missing from the kayak-fishing scene is a small, pedal-powered kayak with a propeller, forwards and backwards to discover.

Description of Supernova Junior

At 3.20 meters long, this small kayak is primarily designed for freshwater fishing. Due to its dimensions, it is limited to the 300-meter band for sea fishing. Small, but equipped like a big one. It features a hinged, forward-opening, insulated bow locker, accessible even on the water. In fact, with its 84 cm beam and hull design, it's very stable when fishing.

In terms of fishing equipment, the fishing area has 4 accessory rails, 2 front and 2 side, where you can install a fishfinder screen, rod holder or arm for an onboard camera. It also has 2 rear accessory rails, 2 fixed rod holders installed behind the raised seat. The seat is slide-mounted, with little fore-and-aft travel given the size of the boat, but it has two heights of adjustment and backrest adjustment too. Lifelines are fitted as standard, and there are two other colors supplied in a bag to change the look of your kayak to suit your tastes. The rear deck is fitted with an elastic band to hold it in place, so the portage cart fits perfectly when you're out on the water.

Compared to its big brother, the Supernova FX, the Junior features a folding outer rudder. The rudder control cable is pre-installed and adjusted. The rudder control is on the left side. The paddle is also supplied as standard.

Personal opinion

A kayak designed primarily for freshwater. For a sea program, you'll need its big brother, the Supernova FX. I put it on different portage carts, the standard Railblaza C-Tug and the Railblaza C-Tug R. Both are suitable, but I personally recommend the R.

An ideal kayak to put your teenager in to accompany you on your outings. Its low weight, for a powered kayak, is a plus, weighing just 28 kg. Its external rudder makes it extremely maneuverable for a short kayak. Because of its dimensions, very tall people will not be comfortable on it (over 1m90).

A little extra, it has a hull reinforcement under the rear keel on which you can fit an axle and small wheels (not supplied), making it ideal for mounting on a roof rack.
