New Recon front electric motors from Lowrance

Lowrance has announced the launch of the Recon. A new-generation front-mounted electric motor, developed for both freshwater and saltwater anglers, featuring a single joystick remote control as well as best-in-class power and GPS positioning, according to the manufacturer.

A new generation of front electric motors

"This is an exceptional launch for Lowrance, as not only are we launching the next generation of electric bow motors, but we're also offering a version for offshore fishermen for the first time," said Jeremiah Clark, VP & General Manager, Fishing Systems Navico Group.

"Recon is synonymous with control: control of your boat, your position and your catch. Thanks to its power and high-end GPS, as well as its remote control with unique joystick, Recon takes care of all the heavy lifting so anglers can concentrate on the fish."

Recon presents FreeSteer, a lightweight, portable joystick remote control offering precision 360-degree steering. Combined with a wireless foot pedal with programmable keypad and full integration with a multifunction display via NMEA 2000. Recon is designed to help anglers reach their target and keep them there. Its exceptional power and thrust allow them to position themselves with confidence, while its high-precision GPS anchor keeps them on target, whatever the conditions, within a three-foot radius. The FreeSteer remote control revolutionizes position control with its unique jog capabilities.

In addition, FreeSteer offers diagonal jogging in eight directions. Anglers can also freely move anchor positions in almost any direction, without having to re-anchor. The brushless technology combined with the anti-weed propeller makes it possible to search in areas with the densest weeds without loss of control or efficiency. Recon's silent brushless motor won't spook fish, while integrated fishfinder technology delivers the clearest high-resolution images. What's more, the Lowrance Recon offers an upgradeable nosecone sounder option.
