Pro-Staff / Julien Olleville: We represent a brand's image

Pro-Staff #43 -Julien Olleville is a brand ambassador for Bricoleurre. A fishing enthusiast since childhood, Julien enjoys fishing for bass and other sea bream with lures. He has been making his own lures for over ten years now.

Hello Julien, can you introduce yourself to Fishing.news readers?

Hello, my name is Julien, I'm from Boulogne sur mer, I've been a Bricoleurre ambassador since 2023. I mainly fish for sea bass and pollock with lures on the Opal Coast and a little for predators in winter.

Can you tell us about your early fishing days?

I started fishing at the age of 6 with my grandfather and uncles, fishing for mackerel and smelt. Then, in my teens, I started surfcasting and fishing in local, then regional and national adult competitions. Then I discovered boat fishing and especially lure fishing.

When, how and why did you agree to become a Pro-Staff?

I've been making my own lures for over ten years, and Bricoleurre was the first to provide the necessary equipment and video tutorials to make the concept accessible. I agreed to become a Bricoleurre ambassador, because the first contacts went very well and were very welcoming. I was also attracted by the fact that it's a great French brand where you can make your own lures from scratch.

What does being an ambassador mean to you?

For me, being an ambassador means representing a brand's image locally and nationally at major trade shows, demonstrations, competitions, even simple fishing trips, and especially on social networks. You can give your opinion in equipment tests or in the design of new products.

What's your fondest memory or anecdote from your time as a Pro-Staff?

Our fondest memories are of the Fécamp and Le Havres Opens, where the team was very friendly and shared. But also at the Clermont-Ferrand show, where meeting ambassadors from all over France is always a very pleasant experience.

What do you think of fishing in France?

In recent years, attitudes have changed. Fishing is more focused on preserving the environment and respecting fish. And on social networks, there's a lot more content from brands and individual anglers (like YouTubers or on Tiktok, for example).

Any advice for anglers who want to join a Pro-Staff team one day?

The advice I can give is to be yourself, to share, to showcase a brand's products and to enjoy communicating. In my opinion, you have to show your motivation and commitment to the brand, and not think that becoming an ambassador is just about getting an endowment of equipment.
