A wide range of weights
Thanks to its wide range of weights and sizes, the Saltiga SK jig from Daiwa can be used in 30 metres of water as well as over 250 metres. It comes in 7 different weights, from 60 to 250 grams, and 6 different colors. The 60 and 85 gram models are perfectly suited to fishing for sparids such as denti or pagre in water depths ranging from 30 to 50 metres. When the current or drift is stronger, the 110-gram model will enable you to make contact with the bottom more easily.
Beyond 80 metres, I frequently use the 140 or 170 grammes to quickly hit the bottom and fish efficiently on the first 30 metres of the ascent. Finally, for anglers wishing to tackle deep fishing, the 200 and 250 grams will enable you to easily keep your line vertical in depths exceeding 150 meters.

A highly effective form
When looking for an efficient jig, it can be difficult to find one that swims as well as a slow jig, yet is streamlined enough to descend quickly and fish at the right depth. This is one of the main advantages of the Saltiga SK jig, which can go down like a rocket when a minimum of tension is maintained during the descent to make it go down as straight as possible. When animating, if you want to make it glide, simply give it a long pull with the rod and then let it go slack. This will allow the jig to flutter on the way down, just like a classic slow jig. If you get the chance to try it out, you'll also be able to feel how easy it is to animate this jig, whose pointed tips split the water very easily.
For color enthusiasts, I strongly advise you to try the Sardine or Pink Mirror at shallow depths, then the Pink Iwashi and Glow Pink from 60 meters upwards, which are formidable on sparids. Finally, the Zebra Glow will make all the difference at great depths where light levels are very low.

The right weapons
An effective jig not only needs to be efficient when animating, it also needs to be well armed to deal with all the predators you may encounter. Fortunately, the Saltiga Sk jig is equipped with a double assist capable of withstanding the biggest fish in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. I dare you to try and bend the VMC hooks on this jig, which are extremely strong and spicy.
When fishing for fish that often miss jigs, such as denti or pagre, I recommend using two of these assists, one on the head and one on the tail, as slow jigs are often equipped with, to get 360 degrees of hook coverage.
