New GSD 28 module from Garmin, high power for better fishing

Spotting fish is an undeniable advantage when it comes to boosting your results. Garmin's new GSD 28 module offers superior resolution that will be decisive for effective fishing.

RapidReturn sounder and xCHIRP technology

Garmin, manufacturer of innovative marine electronics, recently announced the launch of the GSD 28, a high-power fishfinder module designed for recreational fishing. Featuring the RapidReturn sounder, the GSD 28 offers more data on its multifunction display, with a transmission frequency up to six times higher than that of its predecessor.

This new sounder technology provides superior resolution with excellent target separation and bottom distinction. This makes it easy to spot underwater features, fish or even bait while fishing.

Garmin's RapidReturn sounder sends multiple sounder signals through the water column simultaneously, allowing much more information to be displayed quickly on the multifunction display. As a result, anglers benefit from a more detailed view of what's going on underwater, with more accurate and relevant sounder returns. Thanks to xCHIRP fishfinder technology, the GSD 28 displays clear, precise schools of fish with excellent target separation.

The GSD 28 supports two-channel CHIRP technology (1-3 kW) sweeping frequencies from 25 to 250 kHz.

Tough and waterproof

The GSD 28 is designed to withstand harsh marine environments, such as high winds, rain and sunlight. What's more, it features an IPX7 protection rating to guarantee watertightness. When the going gets tough, the RapidReturn sounder can be paired with the MSC 10 external satellite compass (sold separately) to ensure that waves and swells don't interfere with the data provided by the sounder. Always interesting when fishing in rougher or rougher water.

The versatile GSD 28 is compatible with a wide range of Garmin and AIRMAR probes. These probes can be configured manually or automatically, giving anglers greater flexibility when configuring their fishfinder display. It is compatible with the new GPSMAP 9000 series, as well as GPSMAP 8600/8600xsv, GPSMAP 7x3/9x3/12x3 and GPSMAP 10x2/12x2 chartplotters.
