It's sure to arouse the interest of sea anglers. Whether you're a competitor or not, you've got to admit that a prize worth 150,000euros is a real eye-catcher.
Win an over-equipped boat
The color was announced last February. At the BoatLife boat show in Birmingham, the competition organizers unveiled an aluminum boat over-equipped for sea fishing. A boat from New Zealand brand ExtremeBoat powered by a Yamaha 300 V6 with Helm Master EX joystick and integrated autopilot, as well as a complete Lowrance system (12-inch screen, cartography, depth sounder, radome, etc.) and a trailer for routeing and launching. A package estimated at 150,000 euros, this is the prize that will be offered to the winners of the Sea Angling Classic competition taking place in Porsmouth near the Isle of White.

Competition organized by fishing event specialists
Visit Sea Angling Classic is the latest addition to the Angling Spirit family. The company has been organizing the World Carp Classic or, since 2014, the World Predator Classic these international competitions are supported by major brands and bring together the best anglers in each discipline.

In 2022, the Sea Angling Classic was born, and this year it has taken on an international dimension.

Authorized techniques and fishing area
The fishing zone along the Portsmouth coast, protected by the Isle of White, measures 14 nautical miles in longitude and 7 miles in latitude. The number of points is calculated by adding the sizes of the 3 biggest fish of each of the 5 following species: sea bass, gilthead bream, skate, shark andmissole. Fish may be caught with lures or bait, drifting or anchored.

The English are no strangers to anchored fishing, and this is the approach taken by all our boats. It is possible to use 4 rods in action per boat, with 2 to 4 people on board.
More than 70 boats competed from 8 am to 4 pm on Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17, 2023.

Winners take home Europe's biggest trophy
This vintage was won by local fishermen Jason Williams and Liam Smith, from the Sea Raider team. When they learned they'd won by just a few points, the emotion was palpable!

With a total of 1726 cm for the 5 species, they beat the 2nd place finishers by just 53 points. It was their sea bass, a species that can be fished at landfall, that made the difference. The Isle of White's Bad Boyz team finished in second place. Playing fair, Luke Fitzgerald gives us his hot impressions: " It was an incredible weekend with all those enthusiasts. We could have won this year, but the winners deserved their place. There was only one fish between us - in competition, it's always a close call ."
