If you fish for tuna, amberjack or cuttlefish in the Mediterranean, you're probably familiar with Daiwa's flagship Saltiga reel range. The Saltist range, on the other hand, is the much more affordable version, without compromising on strength.

Introducing Saltist MQ

Une technologie Monocoque pour le MQ
Monocoque technology for MQ

The new generation Saltist has now been on the market for two years, and has proven to be perfectly suited to strong fishing. The technologies incorporated in this model offer great possibilities, whether in France or in exotic waters. The Saltist MQ features Monocoque (MQ) technology, a one-piece aluminium frame that allows the insertion of a larger and therefore more solid and powerful drive wheel.

It also features Magsealed bearings, completely sealed, and an ATD brake with carbon discs. The watertightness of the frame and bearings preserves parts susceptible to corrosion and ensures the reel's longevity over time. Available in a multitude of different sizes with large ratios for sport fishing with surface lures.

Specific applications

A reel designed for heavy sea fishing

The Saltist MQ has been designed to be robust and can therefore be used for heavy fishing on our coasts. It is ideal for hunting tuna in sizes 10 000 and 14 000 on fish up to 50 kg. The 8000 model is perfect if you want to fish for barracuda, amberjack or cuttlefish on surface lures. The 18,000 and 20,000 models are more suited to big tuna on the hunt or on the livebait, but can also accompany you on exotic trips in search of the world's various powerful fish.

Its high braid content also means you can tackle big fish without fear of the spool being emptied: the 20,000 size can accommodate up to 300 metres of braid in 51 hundredths, equivalent to 120 lb or PE 10. It has been used in Australia for bank fishing to prove its strength and power.
