Pro-Staff / Florent Rebour: "Investing as much as possible in your passion"

Pro-Staff #37 -Florent Rebour is a brand ambassador for Fiiish. An avid lure angler, Florent is particularly keen on sea bass in kayaks and carnivorous fish such as pike-perch and pike in freshwater.

Hello Florent, can you introduce yourself to Fishing.news readers?

Hello, my name is Florent Rebour, I'm 26 and I'm part of Team Fiiish. I'm from the Paimpol area, close to the Bréhat island, a paradise for sea fishermen, where I mainly fish for sea bass in kayak. Being above all a nature enthusiast, the search for sea bass in a kayak on the islets of Bréhat was an obvious choice... I also fish from the shore and by boat at sea, but also in freshwater here in the Cotes d'Armor, mainly on dam lakes in search of pike and pike-perch.

Can you tell us about your early days in fishing?

Like many people, I started fishing at a fairly young age, around 14. After school and at weekends, my classmates and I would go fishing for roach and carp. Then the desire to develop our passion pushed us towards trout fishing in ponds, then in rivers and streams. As time went by and we met new people, we finally took to the sea at the age of 17, when my father bought his first boat. It was then that my passion for lure fishing began, but above all for sea bass, which for me is the most beautiful of all.

When, how and why did you agree to become a Pro-Staff?

It all happened about 4 years ago, when my long-time partner and I won a kayak competition in the Bréhat archipelago. Fascinated as I was by the Fiiish brand, we were contacted by the brand about a partnership for our binomial. Naturally, we were delighted to accept.

What does being an ambassador mean to you?

For me, being an ambassador is an immense opportunity, because above all it gives us access to even more sharing of our passion through various presentations in stores or other fishing shows. It also brings us the joy of sharing our different fishing sessions via the image of the brand with which we share the same values. It's also a way of outdoing ourselves, as I'm always on the lookout for ways to improve with the various new products in the range. It's also the advantage of participating in the testing of new products, and the chance to give an opinion on lures that might one day be missing from our lure boxes.

What's your fondest memory or anecdote from your time as a Pro-Staff?

The memories are many, because every year we manage to exchange sessions with different ambassadors, either on vacation or on a special trip, to share our knowledge and other desires for discovery.

Probably my fondest memory of Team Fiiish was during the Ambassador Camp weekend, when the Team's ambassadors were invited to spend 2 days fishing and sharing in Finistère. It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet up and exchange ideas on fishing techniques.

What do you think of fishing in France?

A lot has been done in recent years in freshwater through the various aappma, brands and other competitions set up to enhance the environment. But I think there's still a lot to be done at sea to ensure respect for this environment, which in some areas is becoming poorer by the year. I believe that to counter this, there is a real desire on the part of the younger generation to change the image of fishing in France through the various social networks, where the beautiful images of our catches enhance the value of our passion. This is also where "belonging" to a brand like Fiiish comes into its own, as many things are done to enhance our passion through the design of biodegradable lures and many other innovations...

Any advice for anglers who want to join a Pro-Staff team one day?

My advice is quite simply to take pleasure in your passion, to get as involved as possible in it through competitions, associations and other social networks. And above all, go fishing as often as possible, first and foremost for yourself and not to force things... The key to success is availability and determination. The hardest thing is not to become one, but to remain one, as our communications manager says.
