Bass fishing competition

The Glénan Pêche Sportive association organizes on June 24 and 25, 2023, the 12th edition of the Open des Glénan. It is one of the biggest sea bass fishing competitions in France, all in a friendly atmosphere.
The Open des Glénan is a major event for sea bass fishermen and lure fishermen. This competition will welcome nearly 130 crews of two fishermen, coming from all over France. For two days, they will compete in the Glénan archipelago off Fouesnant in Finistère. This archipelago is known for its numerous fishing spots, ranging from calm areas such as "La Chambre" to deeper rock heads and wrecks. Competitors are required to fish only with lures (no bait fishing) and to respect a quota of 5 fish per day with a minimum size of 42 cm. All the bass are measured by the volunteer stewards present on the water and the fish are released, in "no-kill" mode, of course.
For lure fishing enthusiasts

The stakes will be high, because a victory in the Open des Glénan places a competitor at the highest national level in his specialty. The 2022 edition, on a rough sea, had seen the victory of the crew composed of Norbert Le Devendec and Alexandre Le Goff from Lorient.
The competition will be based in Port La Forêt, which will host a village dedicated to festive moments during the two days of competition: reception, crew meals, concerts... For this 12th edition, the organizers are hoping for favorable weather conditions and are expecting another fierce battle on the water.
