The areca
Locally, the arenicola (Arenicola marina) is found under different names. Chique, bocard, bouzou, buzucâeuros¦ We look for it in the muddy sand with a spade. You will easily locate it thanks to the small twist of sand left above the mound of sand under which it hides. It can be kept for a few days, in the bottom of the fridge.
Clean your worms, put them in clean and wet seaweed, wrap them by 10 or 15, as needed, in newspaper. Do not mix the wounded worms with the healthy ones, otherwise your harvest will quickly expire. You can also keep them for a year, emptied, salted or frozen, they are also effective, but nothing beats fresh and live ones. Use a licking needle to put them on the hook.

The gravels
Mudpuppy, red or half-hard nereis (Nereis versicolore), sand nereis or white nereis (Nephtys hombergii), what we call here, red gravelly and white gravelly. They can also be picked up with a spade, they can be kept alive for a few days in the bottom of the fridge, same recommendations as for the arenicoles. The red ones are preserved in the seaweed, the white ones are preserved in oxygenated sea water, which is very dangerous for the place here on the Brittany point.
Chickweed
Pistiche or Rock Neroid (Marphysa sanguine), here in Brittany, it is called pétisse. It is the worm that works best, we do not easily share a good corner to pétisseâeuros¦ These worms are collected in the schistose rocks, they are kept like the others a few days, to use fresh only
The bibi
The bibi (Sipunculus nudus) is harvested in the sand with a spade, it is the worm that must be had for the search of large sparids, they are kept a fortnight and can be frozen.

Nemertes or ribbon worms
We find them by chance while looking for the other worms, they can measure up to 50 m, they look like the tenya which parasites our intestines. They are cut in pieces to use them.
The regulation
Beware of local regulations concerning the harvesting of marine worms, yes, there is one. On the Brittany point, it is not more than one kilo of worms per person per day, which is quite enough. It is forbidden to collect them at night. It is forbidden to look for them at less than 15 meters from the shellfish farms and of course it is forbidden to resell the worms, and yes, there is also a parallel market on these species.

Last advice, do not leave the foreshore turned over after your passage, fill up the holes. With your logs, ready, go...
