The budget for lure fishing is not limited to the rod and reel, it is necessary to invest in many accessories that are mostly consumables and therefore constitute regular expenses. Considering the often high prices of fluorocarbon, in addition to my usual products, I tested the Caperlan brand distributed by Decathlon.

Flexible and opaque
The first thing you notice about the Caperlan fluorocarbon is that it is "opaque" or dull and not crystalline like some models and that it is very flexible.
If the crystalline aspect is synonymous for many with transparency and discretion, I am not totally convinced and I particularly like to use dull models that do not tend to reflect the light and shine on sunny days.
On the other hand, the flexibility is a positive point, especially when using light lures.

Tender but very good abrasion resistance
A characteristic that often follows from the previous one, flexibility often implies soft fluorocarbons and not hard ones. If the latter give the feeling of being particularly resistant to contact with abrasive and aggressive surfaces that your line may encounter in the environment, I have not experienced any discomfort with this model.
Indeed, used in 25, 30 and 35/100 for a dozen trips, I have not experienced any cut or observed a premature and excessive wear of my head after repeated passages in the seaweed or when fishing on rocky bottoms.
The abrasion resistance of Caperlan fluorocarbon is therefore very satisfactory.

Average glide
The only flaw I could find with this fluorocarbon, but which is not detrimental to its use, is its very average glide when making knots. Indeed, even when moistened, when making a spoon knot or a palomar knot, this fluorocarbon slides moderately on the end of the knot and tends to be marked at this place.
However, beyond the aesthetic aspect, it remains very resistant to breakage and I have not encountered any unexplained or inconsistent breakage at this level. So it remains just an aesthetic defect.

The right braid/fluorocarbon combo
I use 28/100, 30/100 and 35/100 diameters respectively with PE1, PE1.2 and PE 1.5 braids. I connect them with an FG knot and I have never experienced any breakage in the knot or the braid. These combinations are therefore relevant to fish safely and not to have to constantly remake its head when a snag occurs.
An excellent quality-price ratio
Available in 50 m spools and diameters from 10/100 to 40/100 for a price ranging from 4 to 8 euros, the Caperlan flurocarbon not only gives satisfaction to the anglers at the water's edge but also to their bank account. It is a very good product offering a quality price ratio without too much competition!
