Weekly material / The 5 lures that worked well during my 2022 season

It's almost time to take stock and to better prepare the next season, it's good to look back on what worked on the lure side. I'm going to limit this box to 5 lures, three swimmers and two soft lures.

One box of lures is enough

Which lures to select?

During this season 2022, I put a lot of things in the water, but at the end of the season, we realize that we often come back to the same lures. We all take too many things in our boxes, normally, we like to try something new, a lure that we have heard good feedback or simply by curiosity.

For this end of season, I made a selection of the lures I use the most, as we can not write a novel on the subject, I did violence to put only the 5 lures that I put the most in the water. And when I think about it, I realize that with this box, I can answer to almost all the approaches that correspond to my way of prospecting a spot.

Soft lures with two forms of lures

Fishing with soft lure

A lure type shad in 85 mm, the astushad from Astufish, a small box from Brittany. This lure of 85 mm is put behind leaded heads of different weights, from 5 to 30 grams and exists of course in a dozen colors. For this season, the majority of my catches were made with the blue color (sardine) on heads from 12 to 20 grams. These lures have a strong rolling, they start swimming as soon as they enter the water. They can be found in Texan or classic rigs. I reserve the texan for the edges.

The second soft lure is its big brother, the Talashad, which is mounted on heads from 20 to 45 grams. It is a sandeel type lure, 120 mm, with a shad tail as well. I use it mainly for the search of pollack and cod and it gives its full measure as soon as the water cools down. It comes in 4 colors, including a special winter orange glitter.

The swimming fish

Choose the right lure for the area

Three swimming fish have won the award, hands down this season, they come from the catalog Yo-Zuri. The 3 DB Jerkbait is a lure that appeared on the market 3 years ago. Available in six colors, it is proposed in 110 mm. It is a suspending, noisy lure. It swims at about 1,50 m under the surface. I use it as well in trolling as in casting back, it is then good to practice pauses during recovery.

The 3DB shad, this one is available in 70 mm in 5 colors. It swims at about 2 m under the surface, I use it as well in trolling as in casting back. Its strong point lies in the mylar filaments which dress the tail hook. It gives the impression of a wounded fish that loses its scales.

The last of the list is the Crystal Deep diver. Available in 3 sizes, 90, 110 or 130 mm, it dives up to 6 m under the surface and is available in a dozen colors, I use it mostly for trolling.

On utilise très peu de leurres
We use very few lures

As already explained in the description of my way of exploiting a spot, I often start by trolling the area, then when I catch a fish, I take out the straws and rake the area around the kayak.

With these different lures in my box, I can correctly comb an area, without using a large number of lures and at different water depths. It is not easy to limit yourself in your choice of lures, but if you think about it, you will use very few lures in your box. I am sure that some of your lures have never seen the water, so think about sorting âeuros¦.
