The technique of tuna fishing with scrambler is constantly evolving. New technologies and equipment allow us today to fish more efficiently. This 40-minute video shows you how to do it!

An ancient fishing technique

Sensations assurées
Guaranteed sensations

The technique of tuna fishing with scrambles consists of baiting regularly with baits (usually pieces of sardines) to attract the tuna close to the boat and to make them swim up the scramble until they reach the fishing range. This tuna fishing technique, which is widespread in the Mediterranean, is one of the oldest and best known.

In spite of its formidable efficiency, for the last fifteen years, this practice had nevertheless experienced a certain disenchantment, victim of the rise in power of tuna fishing with lures on the hunt. While they should be considered as complementary, these two approaches are often put in competition with the "fun" and "sporty" side put forward for lure fishing and a more "basic" image attributed to grayling fishing, with its long waiting time, its huge rods and its excessive reels.

The technological revolution

Du matériel adapté
Adapted equipment

This was without counting on the great technical and technological advances that are tipping the fishing of the broumé into a whole new world. First of all, the new technologies of sounders have made it possible to better detect and analyze the presence of fish in the graze and thus to try to change the presentations, the baits and the distances when the presence of fish is proven.

No more waiting for the touch, you have to try to trigger it and this waiting fishing becomes much more dynamic. The progress also affects the fishing equipment itself with new generations of rods and reels that allow to use very thin lines and to gain greatly in fishing comfort and sensations.

A new approach to the tuna scramble fishery

This evolution of the technique is strongly pushed by the excellent results obtained with these new approaches on the great national and international competitions which push the best anglers and competitors to question themselves and to make evolve material and technique.

In the video below, you can get an idea of this new approach to fishing for tuna. Samir Kerdjou and Guillaume Baylac (usually tuna fishermen with lures) have embarked with a crew of experienced fishermen and competitors: Cyril Zubillaga, Stéphane Bénésech, Jérôme Galis and Tristan Galis.
