From mid-June and July 1 depending on the river, it is possible to search for these two species, but especially the castillon or summer salmon, having paid an assortment and migratory stamp.
Which river to fish for castillon in Brittany ?
There are a large number of rivers classified as "salmon" in Brittany, however some of them have more "important" runs and are more regular when you want to try salmon on the fly.
It is possible to know the returns on certain rivers such as the Elorn, the Aulne and the Scorff, because they have a counting station.
The choice of the river depends on your desires, but also on the conditions. In Brittany, the locals only fish "their river" but it is always interesting to go fishing in another river to discover other waters, spots, pools and types of fishing.
In the summer, the water becomes quite low and the slightest hit is to be taken into account. In low and clear water, favour morning and evening strokes.
In summer, be careful because only the "low" parts are authorized to look for the castillon. Each river has an upstream limit which is very often established by a bridge.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of rivers and spots to prospect depending on the area where you live.

Best fishing trips in Finistère
The Ellé the castillon can be found from Quimperlé where the limit of salinity of the water (LES) is located up to the bridge called Loge-Coucou which is located at about thirty kilometers upstream.
There are many courses on the AAPPMA of Quimperlé including: Kerfourcher, Le Ruerno, le Fourden, le Moulin du Stall, les Roches du Diable or Kerscolier, les fusillés dit Combout, Loge-Coucou (on the AAPPMA Entente du Haut Ellé). A "salmon" fly course located at Bodvé in the town of Arzano also exists.
Be careful, many courses are private on this river, but they are often indicated.

The Aven for fly fishing, the most beautiful course is that of Pont Torret (upstream limit of the lower part) going down to Pont Taro.
The course known as "Le Plessis" is also interesting during the ascents, because it is the first retention on the Aven where the castillon stop. Then Moulin du haut bois further upstream.
The Elorn a beautiful small, slow and deep river, very well maintained and managed by the local AAPPMA.
A nice fly course of the Quinquis is located on the middle part and still holds some salmon. But you will find many pools on different accesses: the quarry, the station, the Carnadic, then Mehar, Pont-Christ, la Roche Maurice and upstream of the fish pass of Kerhamon.

The rivers of Quimper :
The three rivers of Quimper are also populated with salmon.
On the Odet the course of the stangala or just upstream (Coat Glaz, Pradilés) are often the most fished.
On the Steïr, the courses at the bottom of the river, such as Troheïr, Pontusquet, Kergadou are the most interesting.
On the Jet, the courses are located between the Expressway and the Pont Ar Marrat stream.
The Aulne is a canalized river on its middle part from Landeleau. Salmon are often caught on the lower part of the river, especially at the Coatigorac'h lock, Toul Ar Rodo, but there is plenty of choice. If you are in Finistère, prefer a river that is not canalized and much more fly-fishing in summer.

Two beautiful rivers in the Côtes d'Amor
The two most fished and interesting rivers for fly fishing are the Léguer and the Trieux.
The Léguer is a magnificent river to look for salmon and especially for fly fishing. Numerous courses such as Buhulien, Tonquédec, Losser, Kervern are well suited to fly fishing.
The Trieux is also to be made in particular the courses around Guingamp.
Some corners in Morbihan :
In Morbihan two interesting rivers for fly fishing are the Scorff from the St Yves mill and the Blavet.
The Scorff from the St Yves mill (fly course in summer) to Moulin Papier (upstream limit) passing by Pradigo, Moulin du Roc, Fanquigo. The fishes can go up quickly according to flows, but generally, the summer the courses of the low Scorff are often the best, in particular the Mill of St Yves and Kéréven then Pradigo.

The Blavet, a canalized river classified as a migratory river, catches many castillon every summer. Salmon are often caught on the lower part of the river, especially at the Gorrêts lock, but also at Quélennec.
There are of course other salmon rivers in Brittany, but those mentioned above are among the best in the region.
