Particularities to be taken into account
At the exit of the harbors, small fish are numerous and it is not uncommon to catch them easily and quickly if you have the right rig to offer them. Already, it is important to present the bait correctly in the open water so that it is perfectly visible.
A float that holds a few grams is perfect. A Toulouse type model or simply a Niçoise ball is practical and ensures good visibility of the keys. Take care to adjust the bottom. In general, the bait is presented on the first third of the height of the bottom, starting from the bottom, in order to hit a maximum of species. The size of the single hook on the leader varies depending on the size of the bait and the size of the fish.
For the mounting to support, it is another story and present a bait in depth on a wreck or a rocky plateau requires special care. First, you must know in advance the bait you will use.
If it is a shrimp and the depth is 10 meters, it is not necessary to have a strong ballast. The ballast therefore corresponds to particular parameters that must absolutely be appreciated and that once taken into account ensure a good presentation of the bait.
Which material to choose?
For fishing out of harbors, on dikes and booms, there is no need to turn your brain over to choose the right equipment.
In fact, to fish with a floating line, a simple line for fishing with the blow will be perfect. With or without elastic inside, in the length that suits you. All you have to do is choose your equipment to have a pleasant day.
When fishing for support on these same spots, it all depends on whether you are fishing from a distance or overhead. For distance fishing, your surfcasting gear will work fine, as long as you have the power and length to reach your chosen fishing area. For overhead fishing from these structures, boat type gear is also fine.
The only thing not to forget is a big scale or a small square to take out your best catches because often, the distance between the dock and the water is important.
On the dykes, the booms and at the exit of the ports, you can also practice fishing with scales and fishing with a plaice.
In short, these places, in addition to being true fish magnets, are places where several types of fishing are possible for the greatest happiness of young and old.
Nylon or braid, an essential choice
In the majority of the techniques, the use of braids is largely favorable, and besides, one does not even ask the question any more. On the other hand, in fishing to support, it is not rare that the use of nylon is preferable. Indeed, for technical reasons, the elasticity of this line allows the fish to seize the bait without perceiving tension in the line.
