While some lures move into your tackle box and others leave it, year after year some remain there without questioning their legitimacy. Lunker City's Shaker is one of these, and is considered a must-have by many freshwater and saltwater anglers alike.
A flat, high profile
Unlike most, if not all, shads on the market, the Shaker has a body with flat, high sides rather than rounded ones. This feature provides plenty of visual volume and highlights the color contrasts between the top and bottom of the body. This effect is particularly enhanced by the high rolling action of this lure.

A big paddle
Another feature that sets the Shaker apart from other soft lures is the very large paddle. It's a real beater that sends strong vibrations to predators and considerably accentuates the lure's rolling action. It is preferable to weight the Shaker a little more than other shads of the same size to keep it stable when swimming. Combined with a relatively thin section at the body-paddle joint, the Shaker springs into action at the slightest touch, making it ideal for linear and vertical fishing.

A 4x4
While the Shaker is effective for linear and vertical fishing, it's just as effective for scratching and slow-pulling for bass. It's a true 4x4 that adapts to all contexts and targets. Not least because of the many colors (21) and sizes available. The Shaker is available in 4 different sizes: 3.25" (80 mm), 4.5" (115 mm), 6" (150 mm) and 8" (200 mm).

All species and all environments
The Shaker is a lure that has been proving its worth for well over a decade on all freshwater and saltwater predators. As far as I'm concerned, it's been in my boxes since 2009 and has caught perch, pike-perch, pike, catfish as well as sea bass, pollack and meagre. It's a lure I take out on a regular basis, and one that has proved just as effective over the years.
My must-haves
Because it's obvious that I can't use and own every color, I've made a selection of a few favorites according to the species I'm after. For pike-perch, I mainly use the 4.5-inch model in Arkansas shiner, Albino and Ice shad. For bass, I use the same size, but prefer the Alewife and Ayu colors. Finally, for elevator pollock and pike, I use the 6-inch size in three main colors, the indestructible Limetreuse, the excellent Bubblegum Ice and L'atomic chicken.
