The oldie is an extremely fun fish to catch. The bite is explosive, so bridle this fish firmly and it will immediately seek refuge in its crevice from which it never leaves.
Assembly
The "Texan" anti-snag rig is the most appropriate for this technique, greatly limiting the risk of snags on the bottom thanks to the hook point protected by the lure's supple material. We use a worm, a slug, a comma from 8 to 13 cm, but also a shad from 10 to 12 cm to target big fish.

- Reel: 0.10 to 0.14 mm braid
- Leader: fluorocarbon 0.30 to 0.50 mm depending on abrasiveness of bottom
- Braid/fluorocarbon connection knot: "smooth" knot (1)
- Assembly 1 :
- Lead bullet (2)
- Perle (3)
- Shad finesse lure (4)
- Mounting 2: Texan mounting directly on an articulated lead head (5)
Using the assembly
The oldie is an easy fish. In the rocks where it is present, the old lady bites on many lures, so you just need to handle slowly, flush with the bottom, in a sawtooth pattern. On contact, check the condition of the lure, which is often shredded.

The equipment
The rod measures 1.90 to 2.25 m and weights from 5 to 50 g. It has a fast tip action to feel the bites. The reel size 2500 to 4000 (depending on brand) weighs 250 to 350 g and contains at least 150 m of 0.10 to 0.14 mm braid, ending with 0.25 to 0.40 mm fluorocarbon.

Tips for success
An old lady's touch is explosive, so apply the brakes to firmly restrain this labridae, which will immediately seek refuge in a fault line from which it never leaves.
