I have tested... / Daiwa Surfcaster 4-colour nylon: a real asset for prospecting!

It is one of my favorite nylons and one of my indispensable in surfcasting competition! I present you the Daiwa Surfcaster nylon 4 colors.

When one fishes in surfcasting, one prospects a very large zone going from the first waves to more than 100 meters. And obviously, when one goes up a fish, one is well tempted to start again in the same place! For that, there is a clever solution: the nylon 4 colors.

Braid inspiration for vertical peaches

While we are used to seeing regular colour changes on the braids used in sea fishing, multicoloured nylon is more rarely found. The advantage of the multicoloured braid for vertical fishing is that it allows the angler to identify the height of water the fish has bitten into when using the lure or when mounting it. The principle is the same with the nylons in surfcasting. Posted on the beach, we throw our leader at 5 or 150 meters from the edge. If the key can arrive in the seconds which follow, it can also occur after some turns of crank carried out in prospecting. So if some anglers mark their nylon with a marker to find their fishing distance on the next cast, multicoloured nylon is a slightly less precise but very practical alternative!

Made in Japan, this nylon changes colour every 25 metres. Eh yes, the changes of colors every 10 meters on the braids would not be appropriate for surfcasting since the distances of throwing are larger and a too frequent change of color would be too difficult to follow. This nylon is sold in 300 meter reels - enough to fill a reel spool. It is available in diameters from 18/100 to 37/100 for a resistance ranging from 2.8kg (6lb) to 10.6kg (25lb). It has a good glide, which makes it possible to optimize casting distances: a smooth and shiny nylon will slide better in the rings and thus limit friction, it will not be braked.

Marking of distances

So, beyond aesthetics, these colour changes are a real asset to mark fishing distances. Identifying the colour (and the amount of nylon from the 25 metres of this colour that remains on the reel) makes it possible to identify the distance at which the fish has bitten. It's also a way to be sure that we have cast more or less far from our previous casting distance - which hadn't worked.

The 4-colour Surfcaster nylon is therefore an asset for prospecting! It allows you to repeat your good catches when you have spotted a successful area or it helps you to vary your fishing distances.
