The island of Sein, located off the tip of the raz is known for its strong currents and the impressive images of the Ar Men lighthouse in the middle of a storm. This area, extremely rich in fish, offers without any doubt the greatest diversity of species that it is possible to meet off the coast of Brittany. This area, as magical as it is perilous as soon as the wind or the swell gets up, is located 4 miles west of the tip of the raz.
The departure is from the port of Audierne. It will take you a little less than 30 minutes at cruising speed to reach the eastern part of the island.

The fishing area.
This navigation will make you cross the famous Raz de Sein, known by all sailors for its strong currents. It is best to cross at slack tide and if this is not possible, avoid crossing the Raz on an ebb tide when the wind or swell is SW.
The island of breast offers a multitude of biotopes. All kinds of fishing are possible.
Close to the island, you can fish with finesse for predators in the current or posted behind the many piles of rocks.
To the west of the island, on about ten nautical miles being the chaussée de Sein. This shallow and wide area (2 nautical miles) is bordered by much larger depths of up to 60 meters. Such a configuration leads to strong currents and a nice concentration of fish. You will obviously find sea bass, pollack and saithe, but also pike-perch, red sea bream, and deeper julienne.
This extraordinary diversity makes it an area where professional fishing is very present. Be courteous and respectful. Even if the sea belongs to everyone, these seafarers are here to work.

If you go further west you will find beautiful deep wrecks. Beautiful pieces are common there provided that you master the techniques of fishing at a depth of 100 meters.
The material used.
There more than anywhere else I have excellent results when fishing with jig. Whether it's vertical fishing in search of big fish or on the road in a depth of fifteen meters, this technique will allow you to vary the species. Obviously fishing with soft lures remains very effective.
For deep fishing I stay faithful to the big jigs or big soft lures heavily weighted.

In the area of the causeway and the edges of the island of breast I use mainly Black Minnow from FIIISH in size 3, 4 or 5.

Concerning the rods, in vertical fishing, I am an afficionado of the casting technique: The NFC SJ 606 SM. This set equipped with a Tica reel is my combo of choice for this technique.

Two other rods accompany me to each session there. The NFC MB 739 IM for strong fishing with shads from 40 to 70 grams animated in traction in strong currents as well as the NFC SJ 804 IM Delta, rod of 2,40 m for the lighter traction.
Techniques:
No one technique is better than the other. On the causeway, I prefer pulling in the strong current or scratching behind the boat when the current is weaker. You will often find active fish between two waters that your sonar will not fail to indicate.

Further offshore, the jig or soft lure assayer will surely make yelloweye, julienne and other predators react.
