In exotic fishing, even more than in other fisheries, knots are put to the test. In these conditions, most anglers use the Yucatan knot to connect their braid to their fluorocarbon, which shows just how strong this knot can be. Big game anglers often make a double line with their braid before connecting it to the leader. In this context, the Yucatan knot is even more appropriate.
Once you've mastered it, it's easy to do, but takes a little time to learn.
For greater visibility, I've made this tutorial with 40/100 fluorocarbon thread.
Step 1
Form a loop with your braid.

Step 2
Place your fluorocarbon along your "head to toe" loop.

Step 3
Wrap your braid around the leader between 6 and 10 times (depending on the size of your fluorocarbon).

Step 4
Change hands and take your knot at the base between your index finger and thumb.

Step 5
Pass the fluorocarbon strand through the braid loop.

Step 6: The key stage
At this point, hold both parts of your fluorocarbon between your fingers to tighten your knot properly.
If you let go of the free strand, your knot will unravel.

Step 7
Moisten the knot with saliva and start to tighten by pulling on the braid and the two fluorocarbon strands. Your knot begins to form!

Step 8
Finish tightening and trim off any excess, and your knot is complete.

Advantages of the Yucatan knot :
- Extremely sturdy.
- Used to connect a double braided line to a leader.
Disadvantages :
- Takes a little time to master.
