Sitting at sea is not comfortable when the sea is forming. The sitting/standing position, supported on your legs, is preferable. This is why semi-rigid and open hulls adopt leaning post (or bolster) type seats.
Amiaud has been producing stainless steel fishing tackle for 30 years. This company from Vendée has made its reputation with rod holders. But this year it innovates by launching a bolster seat under its brand Seanox.

A leaning post for fishermen
When a tackle specialist thinks of a bolster, inevitably something special comes out of it. Indeed, externally this sitting/standing seat looks like another one. Built entirely in stainless steel (marine quality 316L) painted black, the whole breathes solidity. The seat, in black PVC, is protected by 2 handrails (sort of armrests) which will be welcome when the sea is rough. Behind the seat, a handrail, very useful for the crew, is also used to hold the rod holders.
The floor mounting is provided with 6 screws with cleverly oblong holes. This way the console remains adjustable from front to back to best fit the rider's height. Often this kind of bolster has a fixed position due to the position of the screws.

A prototype before the final product
We discovered this bolster in a first prototype version at the sea fishing show in Nantes in February 2020. This model was presented to receive remarks and ideas from users in order to launch the production of a final product. The visible model has 4 rod holders for a seat width of 75 cm. But other wider models (6 cane holders) will probably be declined later on.

An integrated fishing box
The whole point of this bolster is under the seat. This one lifts up to reveal a convertible fishing box: cup holder, decoy hook... This aluminium box (for the weight) painted in black also offers the possibility to unload easily. A strap to carry it on the shoulder is provided for that. All that's left to do is to imagine a fish tank between the feet to make this model really complete. A modification that already seems to be in the mind of the research team.
