Hyprex: rebirth of French expertise in RIBs

Hyprex is a young French company based in Vitrolles, reviving national know-how in the manufacture of floats for RIB boats.

Hyprex, a symbol of French industrial renewal

Hyprex embodies the rebirth of a nautical know-how that has disappeared in France: the manufacture of floats for semi-rigid boats. Faced with an industry historically dependent on Italy and Spain, the company is banking on relocation and technical excellence.

A birth inspired by an unexpected incident

In 2019, in Marseille's Estaque harbor, a blue shark rescue mission leads to the destruction of a boat's float. With no French manufacturer able to intervene quickly, Servan Airault became aware of the industrial void in this field and decided to fill it. Hyprex was born.

An innovative, artisanal plant

The Vitrolles plant has been operational since January 1, 2026, and is expanding rapidly: six employees today, with thirty-five planned within a year. Hyprex can manufacture a complete float in five days, a considerable time saving compared to foreign production lead times.

Under the technical direction of Luc Airault, the company favors Neoprene-Hypalon (ORCA) fabric, which is far more durable than PVC. This material can withstand UV rays, hydrocarbons and extreme conditions for up to thirty years.

Between high-tech and elite craftsmanship

Each float is handcrafted following a precise process:

  • Hand-patterning of old floats to reconstitute the original hull.
  • Manual fabric tracing and cutting for perfect fiber tension.
  • Structural bonding in a controlled environment for maximum strength.
  • Customizable for diving, rescue or high-end yachting.

A national ambition

The only company of its kind in France, Hyprex aims to reduce costs and lead times for boatyards, charterers and yachtsmen, while restoring France's industrial sovereignty in a strategic sector. The company combines speed, durability and precision craftsmanship, becoming a key player in the French nautical heritage of tomorrow.
