Minn Kota ushers in a new era with Humminbird technologies

In 2027, Minn Kota will radically transform its product lineup. Electric motors, GPS fishfinders, Humminbird imaging, mapping, navigation, and anchoring will now be integrated into a single ecosystem. This major transformation aims to simplify onboard electronics and enhance interaction between the angler?s various pieces of equipment.

Minn Kota and Humminbird are combining their technologies

A new chapter is beginning in the world of fishing electronics. Minn Kota has announced the creation of a new ecosystem designed to bring together technologies previously associated with the Minn Kota and Humminbird brands. The two brands, which have been partners for several decades, will thus further integrate their expertise.

The goal is clear: to enable the engine, fishfinder, charting, navigation, and anchoring systems to communicate seamlessly. For anglers, this integration should mean fewer steps and more time spent fishing.

That doesn't mean Humminbird's expertise is going away. It will be integrated under the name Humminbird Imaging . Technologies Down Imaging, Side Imaging, 360 Imaging, and MEGA Live will thus continue to be available as part of the new generation of Minn Kota products. The current Humminbird XPLORE, APEX, and SOLIX G3 units are also expected to continue to evolve through software updates.

The New Minn Kota X Series GPS Fishfinders

This transformation is taking shape with the new handsets Minn Kota X Series , available in 7, 9, 10, 12, and 16 inches . Inspired by the XPLORE series, they combine Humminbird Imaging technology with Minn Kota features.

The handset thus becomes the true "brain" of the system. From a single interface, the fisherman will be able to access imaging, mapping, and navigation features, as well as control his electric motor and anchoring system.

Electric motors are getting even smarter

The product lines Ultrex, Ulterra, Terrova, Riptide Terrova, Riptide Instinct, PowerDrive, and Riptide PowerDrive will also evolve. Their GPS technology has been enhanced, and the wireless connection with the new handsets should allow the engine to directly access certain information displayed on the screen.

Among the new features announced, Draw & Navigate For example, it lets you draw a route directly on the phone: the navigation system then follows the route. Intelligent Depth Control monitors the depth to help keep the boat away from shoals.

The famous Spot-Lock is also making progress. Thanks to a dual GPS antenna built into the motors, Minn Kota claims position hold capabilities of up to 50% greater accuracy .

The entire Minn Kota ecosystem on your smartphone

Another key element: the app Minn Kota Fishing . From a smartphone, it will provide access to the engine, the instrument cluster, shallow-water anchors, waypoints, and various navigation features. It is also designed to simplify network management and updates.

And Minn Kota is already announcing what's next. Starting in early 2027, the following are expected to arrive: A Series Combinations , the engines QUEST Terrova and Riptide Terrova Compact , as well as a new MEGA Live Minn Kota and the 360 Imaging Minn Kota .

More than just a product line refresh, Minn Kota is preparing a complete overhaul of its fishing electronics. The philosophy behind it: to enable devices to communicate with one another so that the technology gradually takes a back seat to what really matters... the joy of fishing .
