BlueNav makes its anchorless position-holding technology more accessible

BlueNav is launching two 100% electric Virtual Anchor packages (8 and 11 kW) featuring an automatic position-holding function, designed as a quiet, clean alternative to anchoring or thermal DPS.

How does the virtual anchor work?

The system uses electric propulsion to continuously correct the boat's position according to wind and current, using GPS.

A simple click "plants" the virtual anchor: the boat remains in the area without any physical mooring, chain or bottom anchor.

These include zero noise, zero emissions, zero impact on the seabed (no stripping of posidonia, coral, etc.), and optimized power consumption.

What's it good for on the water?

  • Hold a precise position for fishing (vertical, jig, live), diving, observing wildlife, or waiting in front of a port without dropping anchor.
  • Replace or supplement a conventional mooring system in restricted areas (marine protected areas, Posidonia, Baie des Anges in Nice, etc.).
  • Make demanding maneuvers easier and less stressful, especially for small crews.

Virtual Anchor 8 and 11 Packs

Virtual Anchor Pack 8 : outboard 8 kW electric motor, for boats from 1 to 7 tons, with approx. 8 h of Virtual Anchor, guide price ?17,450 excl. tax.

Virtual Anchor Pack 11 : outboard 11 kW motor, for boats up to ~10 tons or looking for greater autonomy, guide price ?23,450 ex VAT.

Each package includes: the BlueNav electric motor, a 3D joystick for steering, IonBase batteries (1×3.4 kWh or 2×3.4 kWh), plus all the power electronics and Smart Navigation BlueNav functions.

Positioning in relation to existing solutions

Compared with trolling motors, the latter are limited to small units and calm conditions, whereas BlueNav targets boats from 7 to 22 m and several hours of use.

Compared with thermal DPS (dynamic positioning on diesel or petrol engines): here, the solution is electric, so it's silent, less fuel-intensive (or even fuel-free in electric mode) and better suited to prolonged use in sensitive areas.

BlueNav and the Nice launch

BlueNav develops intelligent electric propulsion systems for hybridization: adding an electric unit to complement the existing combustion engine.

Their Smart Navigation functions include: Virtual Anchor, Drift Lock, DPS, lateral docking, 360° rotation, autopilot, to automate maneuversing, docking and positioning.

Virtual Anchor Packs are presented for the first time at Nice Boating Tomorrow (March 19 to 22), on the Fâeuros04 stand, with a BlackPearl 7 x BlueNav demo boat built with AtlantiCraft, available for sale and for water trials.
