A very simple but effective fly
The blob has quickly become a must-have fly for reservoirs. This egg-shaped fly mounted in a special blob caterpillar, dense and short, is unrivalled for exciting trout. It's a must-have in your reservoir fly boxes, in a variety of sizes and colors.
Pink is often one of the basic colors for winter fishing, as it excels in the clear, cold waters encountered at this time of year.
However, you need to vary the colors to find what will appeal to the trout on the day or at a particular time of day, depending on the light, water color and fish preferences.

Tips and tricks
Blobs can be used in a variety of ways, from floating to plunging lines.
Floating silk can be used on sight alone or with a jig using a nymph, chiro, diawl bach, cormorant or other type of fly.
Then, in intermediate line to S3, prospect the water layers to find where the trout are active. One or more blobs, or a tippet blob and one or two flies on top, can be used.
Any type of animation can work, and we'll adapt to the mood of the fish.

Use variants to adapt to changing conditions
Variations on this fly are very easy to assemble, as very few materials are used. Blob caterpillars come in all colors. Each angler has his own favorites, but with a selection of 5/6 colors and by mounting some models in two-tone, it's already possible to quickly have a beautiful box.
These blobs can be mounted with a cylindrical piece of foam at the butt to give what are known as FABs (Foam Arse Blob). These flies are just as effective and simple as the blobs. They can be used a little differently, notably in place of a booby, or as a washing line to present a train of flies and keep them in a certain layer of water.
