In July, just after a sweltering heatwave, we set down our rods on the banks of a large body of water. Where most anglers used boats to drop off lines and baits, we made a strong choice: to do everything from shore, the old-fashioned way, but with strategy.

Strong business despite the heatwave
As soon as we arrived, the signals were good: surface activity, jumps, boils, the carp were there. Unlike other anglers already on the scene, we were quick to get the first bites. Our approach? Ultra-regular baiting (every 30 minutes or after each start), using only pure boilies, without seeds or pellets. Only with a boilie launcher.

Hard baits in a variety of diameters
We used Starbaits Mass Baiting (Signal and Crayzi Fruit) and Probiotic Banna Nut boilies, in 14 and 20 mm. Drying for several weeks, they played their part perfectly against the catfish and crayfish that are very active this season. This choice paid off, enabling us to limit the onslaught of these undesirables. The main bait was Mass Baiting, less rich (of great interest in summer) than its big sisters, Performance Concept or Probiotic. The latter were used sparingly for baiting, but systematically for reeling.

A strategic zone and fishing comfort
The fishing took place on a soft/hard transition zone, at medium distance. This enabled us to fish comfortably (casting, baiting...), without straining, using M4 10-foot rods: easy to handle, precise... What's more, it was a real pleasure to fight.

Results exceeded all our expectations for "simple" fishing
- 7 days fishing
- 80 departures
- 71 carp caught
- Average over 16 kilos
- Several fish weighing over 20 kilos
- 95% of hits between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m
- 2 main rods + 1 unbaited "seeker head" rod

We fished in pairs, from the shore, with just two rods each in the baited area. We also used a 3rd mobile rod, armed with a simple soluble bag, to trigger other bites on sectors far from the baited area so as not to disturb it.

A fast pace for total immersion
Each day was punctuated by maximum organization: preparation of soluble nets to accompany the rigs, management of rappels, constant observation of the water, production of leaders to respond quickly to the many bites ... This total immersion from sunrise to sunset enabled us to concentrate solely on our fishing, on our objective of maintaining the high number of bites during the day.

Conclusion: back to basics, tenfold pleasure
In a fishing world increasingly dominated by technology, this session reminded us that simplicity and good baiting management pay off. A coherent strategy, the right bait, a steady pace... and, above all, confidence in your choices. No frills, just simple but thoughtful fishing and, above all, sharing!
