Live, natural baits for maximum effectiveness
Live baits are among the most effective and popular. They include earthworms (very popular for trout, pike and perch), maggots, various larvae such as mud worms (chironomids), mealworms, moths (moth larvae) and small live fish called minnows (such as roach and minnows for predator fishing). Dendro worms or zebra worms fall into this category, often used for their remarkable efficiency in many freshwater fishing techniques.
These baits are prized because their natural movement and scent strongly attract freshwater fish, offering a high probability of capture. These live baits are often used as they are, on the hook, or in bunches.

Natural baits are foods that fish find in their natural environment, such as aquatic insects, larvae and certain plants like seeds. They serve to mimic the natural diet of fish, and are particularly suitable for fish such as carp, roach and bream.
Fishing with prepared bait
Prepared baits are manufactured products, generally in the form of boilies, pellets, pastes and granules. They are often used for carp fishing, but also for other whitefish species. These baits are designed to gradually release attractants and nutrients into the water, promoting long-lasting fish attraction. Their practicality lies in their ease of use and wide commercial availability.

The final choice depends on the target fish, the season, environmental conditions and the type of fishing practised, in order to optimize the chances of catch.
