A new range of sizes
Available for some time in PE sizes 0.6, 0.8, 1, 1.2 and 1.5, the Prodigy X8 braid range is now enriched with the arrival of new sizes that will delight exotic anglers. Sizes PE 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 are now available.
This Korean-made 8-strand braid offers the same technical features as existing models. Its perfect roundness and extremely fine braiding ensure optimum glide through the rings.
Color treatment is optimal, greatly limiting braid fading. Finally, abrasion resistance has been tested and approved.
Available in two colors:
- PE 2 to 4 in "Army Green" color
- PE 6 to 10 in "Multicolor" colors (4 colors on 10 m).
Depending on the diameter of the braid, the color will be either Army Grey or multicolored.
An impressive diameter-to-strength ratio
We all know that questions about braid diameter and strength are often a source of debate. Indeed, there can be big differences between the actual strength of a braid and that advertised by manufacturers, which can lead to frequent disappointments for anglers.
At Rodhouse, we take this data very seriously. That's why the strength of Prodigy X8 braids is rigorously measured on Rodhouse's own premises, to guarantee reliable and accurate information.

The advantage of multicolored braids
The color of the braid may seem a detail to some, but to others it represents a real asset, especially when fishing for bluefin tuna.
Personally, I fish exclusively with multicolored braid, marked every 10 meters. This allows me, during the fight, to estimate how much braid has come off the reel and how much has been caught by the fish. Each color change tells me that the fish has moved up 10 meters. It's very useful for managing battles.

A favorite model? Clearly, yes.
I had the chance to test the Prodigy X8 before it went on sale, during the 2024 season. I had two versions in my hands: the PE 10 and the PE 8, which I used for bluefin tuna hunting.
I quickly fell in love with the PE 8 model, with its 0.47 mm diameter and claimed resistance of 100 lbs. I admit I was a little skeptical at first about this strength. I feared it might be overestimated, but it's not. In use, it has lived up to all its promises, and has even become my reference braid on almost all my sets.
As for the PE 10, although it offers 10 pounds more resistance, it doesn't provide a decisive advantage when targeting fish between 80 and 150 kg. Above this size, however, its use becomes relevant, if not indispensable.

But what really makes the difference is the PE 8's exceptional glide. Thinner, it allows casts at impressive distances, ideal for reaching distant hunts and reacting quickly.
Large-capacity coils
The Prodigy X8 is available in 300 m or 1000 m spools, at an unbeatable price for a product of this quality.
Count ?98 for a 1000 m spool and ?45 for a 300 m spool.

When hunting tuna, especially when the hunts are dense and intense, breakage can be frequent, resulting in the loss of dozens of metres of braid. This is why the availability of 1000 m spools is particularly appreciated: they allow you to recharge your reels without compromise, and to tackle each outing with complete confidence.
