Equipment for searching for white fish
To fish for whitefish, a 2.5 to 3.90 m rod with a flexible tip adapted to the power required (15 to 150 g depending on the cage) will suffice. It will be accompanied by a reel in sizes 1000 to 2500, fitted with 16 to 20/100 line.
For feeder cages, use 10-30 gram cages (metal or plastic), preferably fitted with an anti-embarrassment device.
Choose a n°10 to 16 hook, attached to a 50 to 80 cm nylon leader, depending on the size of the fish and the clarity of the water.
In action
Fill the cage with sticky groundbait and maggots or pellets, and cast it precisely on the chosen shot.
Restart the line every 5 to 10 minutes to maintain an active attraction zone; regular baiting is crucial to gather and keep fish on the spot.
Place the rod on its supports, with the tip pointing downwards, and watch carefully for bites, which translate into small movements of the rod tip.

The main lures and baits to use
- Maggots, pinkies, earthworms, sweetcorn, casters, micro-boiled according to local preferences and season.
- Bream groundbait or universal groundbait, adapted in tackiness and grain size according to current and water conditions.
Mounting
A classic "loop-in-loop" set-up, with a barrel swivel to prevent twisting, and a stopper/lead to lock the cage, remains simple and effective.
For method feeder, the leader will be shorter (10-20 cm), and the bait presented by the hair (corn, mini boilies, wafters).
Additional tips
- Use a fixed marker to improve casting accuracy and reference the baiting spot for each cast.
- Vary your baits and don't hesitate to use a combination of baits (corn + maggot, pinkie + potting mix) to overcome fish distrust when pressure is high.
- Be patient: touches can occur quickly, or after the shot has been installed.

Whitefish feeder fishing combines precise movements, consistent baiting and judicious choice of rig. It allows you to catch numerous fish and tackle vast aquatic environments in a fun and productive way.
