Range presentation
The range is made up of two families, "perch" and "roach". Each comes in 3 sizes. All are marked "fast sinking".
For "perch" the 3 sizes are :
- 12.5 cm for 37 g
- 17.5 cm for 96 g
- 20 cm for 137 g
For the "Roach" the 3 sizes are :
- 12 cm for 34 g
- 15 cm for 60 g
- 18 cm for 104 g
In terms of color, Savage Gear has put the accent on immortality. The result is highly successful and impressively realistic.
The material seems solid, and these are lures designed for pike. An attractant is incorporated into the mass.
It comes with a rattle on the tail. This is removable, so you can easily switch from a noisy to a silent lure.

Note that this hole can be used to add extra attractant on days when the fish aren't very determined.

The rigging looks good. I just wish the triple belly had been mounted on a swivel to allow 360° free rotation.
This series has a lot to offer the angler, but let's see what it has to offer the fish.
Test at the water's edge
For smaller sizes, conventional equipment is ideal. A good Medium Heavy or Heavy power rod will do the trick. For larger sizes, and in particular the 20 cm perch model weighing close to 140 g, you'll need slightly more specific equipment.
The first thing you notice once you're in the water is that the lure is always swimming. Whatever the retrieve speed, the paddle is always on the move.
The internal sinker is located at the head and the lure behaves like a classic soft lure with a sinker head. It dives head down on descent.

These lures are "fast sinking" lures, designed to sink quickly. They are mainly designed for deep fishing from about 3 meters. Of course, by varying retrieve speed and/or rod angle, they can be used in shallower areas.
They're ideal for fast prospecting above seagrass beds, for example.
I mentioned in the description that the location of the rattle could allow the addition of attractant, but during testing I didn't need to resort to this. On the contrary, I quickly crushed the barbs to facilitate handling, as pike tend to bait them deeply.

So it seems that these lures are just as appealing to anglers as they are to fish. We particularly like the smaller sizes. They represent the perfect compromise between a lure light enough to be used pleasantly and bulky enough to move water and attract the attention of pike from afar.
