Why choose rodbuilding for tuna fishing?
The rodbuilding allows you to assemble your own rod according to your specifications, desires and budget. When it comes to lure fishing for bluefin tuna, the investment is substantial. Just take a look at what's on the market and you'll see that it's often necessary to spend well over 1,000 euros to buy quality equipment.

By turning to rodbuilding, I had access not only to extremely high-quality equipment, which has proved its worth on many fish, but also at a much lower price than what is offered on the market.
Black Hole Cow Gen 2
This rod, distributed exclusively by Black Hole USA for Rodhouse, is my favorite for bluefin tuna fishing. It allows me to target fish up to 200 kilos.
The difficulty for us lure fishermen is to find equipment capable of casting lures from 80 to 200 grams. This means we have to use spinning reels, while at the same time being able to cope with ever-larger fish, some of which now weigh over 300 kilos.
The Black Hole Cow Gen 2 is a single-stranded blank measuring 7.2 feet (2.18 m). Even so, its length allows for decent casting distances.
It is rated at 130 pounds. In reality, it's capable of drying 100-kilo fish in 15 minutes, and successfully fighting much larger specimens, up to 200 kilos.

Its big strength is the flex in its tip.
I like to describe it by saying that it hurts the fish while protecting the angler.
This cane can be used with or without a harness, but is still designed for people with an adapted physique.
As for price, expect to pay less than ?600 for a complete assembly with Fuji rings and reel seat.

Giant 7 from Black Hole
This rod, still distributed by the American firm Black Hole USA, is a monster of power.
It is available in 3 lengths (6, 6.6 and 7 feet).
This is the 7-foot model I've just presented to you.
Here, you'll have a powerful blank in your hands that will hurt even the most recalcitrant and powerful fish.
Announced with a real power of 200 lbs, this 2.13 m blank will be a slightly less powerful launcher than the Cow Gen 2, but is still quite reasonable.

It's also available in 6 and 6.6 foot models, with the 6.6 model being our favorite. Slightly more flexible than the 7, you'll get a condensed 200 lbs of power on a slightly shorter blank, which will allow you to exert even more pressure on the fish to bring it up. Its slightly more flexible tip retains the same casting qualities as its big sister.
RPK 78 from North Fork Composites
Rodhouse's RPK 78 rod, 7'8" long, is specially designed for fishing large predators, particularly bluefin tuna. Its power far exceeds that of the two above-mentioned models. It will particularly appeal to anglers who want to cast their lures at very long distances.
In action, it may seem to lack power, but this impression is deceptive. In fact, it has been bench-tested with a brake resistance of 35 kilos at 45°, which is a very telling indicator: few anglers, even the most experienced, can sustain such force.

It's when you use a Black Magic-style harness that it reveals all its qualities.
It will bend much more than the other two models, but that's when it develops its full power.
This rod is a real monster of power, designed for bluefin tuna and large predators, combining robustness, casting distance and fishing comfort.
