Lexa 2024
The Lexa 2024 is built around a sturdy, lightweight aluminum frame, for a total weight of 330 grams.

The double crank, with its two EVA foam handles, is comfortable and gives a good grip.

As always with Daiwa, adjustment of the various brakes is easy and precise. The fighting brake is 10 kilograms. This power is necessary when you want to use big lures and fight the fish you want with them.
The fighting brake features UTDrag technology, which includes high-density woven carbon discs that reduce jerking when accelerating a fish, and give a smooth line release.

The magnetic brake benefits from Magforce technology, which allows better control of the spool's unwinding speed. This brake has a multitude of positions to optimize its setting, and therefore casting distances, while minimizing the risk of wigging.

The friction brake is sized to cast lures up to 250 grams without worry. Finally, the spool release trigger has a knurled section to prevent thumb slippage.

Everything has been done to ensure maximum comfort of use, both technically and physically, with a streamlined reel that fits comfortably in the hand.

The precise part number of this reel is LX24300HL. LX24 is a diminutive of the name, 300 stands for the size of the reel, the H for High, describing the ratio of the reel and finally the L stands for Left crank.
If you go by the Daiwa catalog photo alone, you'd think that the crank handle is on the right, so it's important to know how to decipher the reel part number to avoid making a mistake. For reels with the handle on the right, there would be nothing in place of the L, which would give: LX24300H.

This applies to all Daiwa reels, which have the same reference construction, even if in France only the left-hand crank versions are often available.
Use
The characteristics of the Lexa 2024 place it among the big-bait reels and it is suitable for using lures weighing between 30 and 250 grams.

As for the line, a 50 to 80 lb braid gives the best performance and is well suited to the intended use. This makes it ideal for pike fishing with large lures.
If you want to fish for catfish with lures, you'd better go for a size 400 or even 500, as the 300 is not suitable for such use.
My opinion
The Lexa is a good reel, rather basic when you look at the various technologies integrated, compared to other more high-end models from the brand. However, this simplicity is synonymous with reliability and is particularly interesting for the reel's intended use, which is to send out big lures, not to be precise, as would be required of a BFS reel.

With an affordable retail price of ?219, this reel offers good value for money, satisfying both the angler wishing to discover big-bait fishing and the experienced angler looking to build a new combo.
In North America, it has proved its worth to anglers of muskellunge, a fish also fished with large lures, so it's perfect and approved for pike fishing.
