Weekly material / Mirage 161 lure, the latest from Trèfle Création

The Trèfle Création brand from the illustrious Hiroshi Takahashi has just arrived on the French market with a new model. Quite simply, it's the Mirage 161, the big brother of the 128, which already has a large following among sea bass anglers.

A saltwater vocation

Most, if not all, swimbaits on the French market have been designed for freshwater fishing, particularly for pike and black bass. The Mirage 161, on the other hand, is a model whose original target is a marine species, the Suzuki. The latter is a particularly popular neighbor of sea bass in Japan, which Hiroshi Takahashi, creator of the Trèfle Création brand, tracks with passion, obstinacy and reflection. The lures he designs are the result of a precise knowledge of this species and its fishing.

But also for freshwater use

That said, a lure is a lure, and we all know how effective swimbaits are on pike and black bass. The dimensions of this model, 161 mm and 45 g, are perfectly suited to fishing for these two species in France.

However, what sets the Mirage 161 apart from other swimbaits on the market is its slightly faster sink rate. As seawater is denser than freshwater, the Mirage 161 has been designed to achieve a particularly slow descent speed in this environment and therefore behaves differently in lakes and rivers.

A different stroke from model 128

Its little brother, the Mirage 128, has a single joint and develops a wide stroke identical to Illex's Freddy, designed by Hiroshi Takahashi.

The Mirage 161, on the other hand, has two joints and offers a smoother, tighter "S" stroke, also known as a flag stroke.

Good throwing distances

All Trèfle Création articulated lures feature a mass transfer and joint locking system when casting. This means they can be cast at far greater distances than any other jointed lures on the market. Lures that tend to go sideways during this phase and offer considerable resistance to air.

At sea, but also in freshwater when fishing from shore, this characteristic can sometimes prove decisive.

The ability to customize

Another special feature of the Mirage models is that they come with several removable elastomer tails in different colors. This is a minor detail, but one that can add a touch of quality.

A wide range of colors

Like its little brother, the Mirage 161 is available in 6 different colors to cover all needs. You'll find flashy colors, particularly interesting for pike, and natural colors based on blue and green tones.

An affordable price

Lures are becoming more and more expensive these days, and we're sometimes reaching new heights for the biggest bigbaits. The Mirage 161 has managed to stay within an affordable price range and is sold in stores for around 32.50 euros.
