The Bass Boat is a very specific boat designed primarily for black-bass fishing. With its deck pretty close to the water and shallow hull, the Bass Boat is designed primarily for calm waters, enabling you to get to a fishing spot very quickly, or to move quickly from one fishing spot to another. Its small draft also enables it to operate in shallow areas where black bass hide.

A style and a conception shared by all brands
The boat generally has a central helm station with one or two console and two carpeted platforms, a smaller one at the stern and a larger one at the bow, offering two fishing positions. Underneath these platforms are numerous lockers for rods and other tackle, as well as one or two livewells.

There are also brackets for a high-mounted fishing seat on both bow and stern, with the option of operating the trolling motor on the bow by pedal or remote control. Many Bass boats also feature a depth sounder on the bow, in addition to the one on the helm console. Bass boats are generally steered with a racing-style throttle pedal, and feature two consoles with a windscreen or bubble to provide maximum protection for pilot and co-pilot.
A well-equipped boat
Over time, these boats have become increasingly sophisticated, incorporating not only the latest electronics, but also a host of gadgets such as illuminated livewells and built-in electric coolers. Similarly, some slightly longer models now feature three seats instead of two.

The Bass Boat can also be fitted with a host of additional equipment, starting with the famous hydraulic stern anchors, a kind of spider's leg that digs into the bottom to hold the boat at anchor.
