L'Accroche-mouche, diary of two experienced fishermen

L'Accroche-mouche is a clever mix of stories and humor pieces about freshwater fly fishing. A lovely illustrated book for all fishing and reading enthusiasts.

The authors

Christian Dumas, aka Kizou, first studied engraving at the École des Beaux-Arts in Saint-Etienne. Since 1982, he has worked as a painter in Tence, Haute-Loire. A fly-fishing enthusiast, he regularly surveys the banks of the Lignon. Occasionally, Kizou also likes to meet up with friends in Quebec or Ireland, and wherever else fly-fishing is possible.

Marc Desage was born in 1952. After training in economics, he became a nursery school principal. A fishing enthusiast since childhood, he discovered fly-fishing in the 1970s, and has been an avid fly-fisher ever since, both in competition and on numerous trips.

Like René Fallet in "Les pieds dans l'eau", Marc Desage and Christian Dumas invite readers to rediscover the extraordinary sensations that fishing can bring. Freshwater fly fishing takes pride of place in this beautiful book. With "L'Accroche-mouche", the reader is taken on a journey through the days of fishing, encountering moments in the life of a fisherman charged with fleeting, subtle emotions. Illustrations, mood bills and stories recount the trials and pleasures that a passion for fishing brings to all those who love it.

Excerpt from "L'Accroche-mouche

"They say it's black, sticky, obsessive, sometimes with a greenish ass. Me, I see it as a devious curse on my ego. When her ghost haunts me, I'm capable of the worst improprieties. Skipping dinner in full view of the guests, getting ahead of a colleague at the fishing stations, recklessly perching at the top of craggy peaks, or sinking armpit-deep in waders into an icy, inhospitable abyss. But I like to fight it all the way, with the energy of someone who has to prove himself. My challenge is to thwart the injustice of events, to persuade myself that I've got enough fish to catch in spite of it all..."
