Federal fisheries warden or volunteer fisheries warden, sworn wardens
Federal fisheries wardens are civil servants employed by the Fédération de Pêche. Commissioned by the prefectures, these sworn agents can intervene in the various AAPPMAs (associations agréées de pêche et de protection du milieu aquatique) in their sector.
Volunteer wardens are private wardens of an AAPPMA. They have received training that enables them to carry out their duties solely on the territory of the AAPPMA they represent. They are also sworn in by the Prefecture of their department, and as such are also agents of public authority, with the task of recording offences.
The federation's salaried wardens and all the volunteer wardens from the various AAPPMAs make up the warden unit of the various departmental federations.

Other people can control the practice of fishing
Others have the power to control the practice of recreational fishing in France. Of course, the national police and gendarmerie may be called upon to enforce fishing and environmental protection laws. But also the various agents of the state, such as the agents of the Office National de l'Eau et des Milieux Aquatiques (National Office for Water and Aquatic Environments), the agents of the Office National de la Chasse et de la Faune Sauvage (National Office for Hunting and Wildlife) or the agents of the various National Parks.

Ensuring the continuity of our passion
Whether a federal fisheries warden or a volunteer fisheries warden, the role of the fisheries warden is crucial to the smooth operation of recreational fishing throughout the country. In many cases, the role of the fisheries warden is first and foremost one of prevention and education, before repression. For this reason, the fishery warden remains an essential element in the proper management of aquatic environments, and must above all be listened to and respected by all anglers.
