I have tested... / Galapagos Grace 240, for pike when you need to be discreet

Weighing just 75.6 grams for a length of 24 cm, the Grace 240 promises an enhanced fishing experience without the excessive weight. This makes it effective for fishing small environments and edges in an unobtrusive way.

Grace 240

The Grace 240, as its name suggests, is 24 centimetres long and weighs just 75.6 grams. This is good, as it allows you to fish with a large lure without having to use a heavy rod, as a hard lure measuring 24 centimetres usually exceeds 100 grams.
However, this lightness brings the disadvantage that the Grace 240 casts moderately well, and this worsens as soon as there's wind. What's more, on windy days with high waves, the lure has more difficulty holding its swimming depth. So it's best to reserve it for fishing in favourable weather conditions and/or small environments, where it excels!
The lure is made up of three hard sections, with a long, tough plastic tail attached to the last section.

A replacement tail can be purchased separately, and is not identical to the one supplied with the lure. It features horizontal fins which increase lift and amplify the lure's swimming action.

As far as colors are concerned, the choice offered is rather relevant for pike research. Among the colors available are chartreuse, white, natural and a very dark color called Galaxy, which deserves a closer look, especially for fishing murky waters.

The Grace 240 is originally rigged with two treble hooks for pike. As the lure is quite fine and lends itself well to the use of single hooks, it can be rigged with two single hooks in size 3/0.

Use

At slow speeds, the lure has a fairly off-axis, wide swimming action. If you add a few twitches or bring it back in stop-and-go mode, the lure will move strongly to one side or the other. On the other hand, if you accelerate the retrieve speed, the lure's swim becomes tighter, a bit like a flag.
The multitude of speeds and animations that the Grace 240 accepts allows you to alternate between slow and fast retrieve phases, which is a good trigger for following fish.
Because it floats and dives just below the surface, it's really a lure that can be worked on sight, and it's great fun to fish with in shallow areas.
The addition of a lead clip breaks the swim, and it's better to use it as it is.

My opinion

Although I find the price of 140 ? a little high and prohibitive, I have to admit that once in the water, the Grace 240 has something quite unique, and very interesting for pike fishing.

Once mastered, it's possible to give it a glide bait-like action, and to make it swim tightly 2 seconds later, which is a very good thing. It is ideal for fishing in conditions where discretion is required, such as clear waters, banks, small rivers or shallow areas...
What's more, my opinion doesn't seem to be isolated, as this lure was voted lure of the year 2024 by visitors to the last Clermont-Ferrand fishing show.
