Many changes on the new Alboran FX3
Since late 2019, this Alboran model has been offered in a stepper drive version. It is now available as a stepper or pedal-propeller version. The pedal version has the advantage of forward and reverse gears. Thanks to an ingenious interchangeable carrier box system, propulsion changes take less than a minute.
The model uses the brand's tried-and-tested cyclone pedal drive from 2018, receiving several improvements over the first pedal drive model. Nor is this the only change this float receives. The size of the rudder has been increased, enabling faster tacking with a reduced turning radius. The rudder control system has also been improved.
The hull features a molding where the control handle is more ergonomically positioned, integrated into the hull design. The rudder lift/launch system has also been simplified. A single end is used for handling, locking into a wedge-shaped catch at seat level.
Access to the front hatch has also been redesigned. The hatch opening is 10 cm longer, and the hatch cover is harder, making it even more watertight. This larger opening makes it easier to stow the cart, for example.
The seat has also been improved, with no more awkward bars under the seat. It uses the same system as the Wildcat, with a 2-position locking system on slides. 4 new colors have been added to the palette, with a logolized paddle with orange blades for the new colors on offer. The central storage hatch, which had disappeared from the Wildcat, can now be used to store live bait by fitting a dedicated plug.
In terms of standard fittings, this model is well supplied. It comes with :

- 2 fixed cane holders also behind the seat
- 4 accessory rails
- 3 lifelines in different colors for personalized decoration
- 5 carrying handles
The basic version comes with stepper propulsion, while the pedal kit is optional. Of course, it also features a sounding well with protective trapdoor.

My opinion
The stability and habitability of this model are well proven. The choice of 2 drivetrains for the same model is very interesting. On this first series, the seat rails need to be lengthened so that shorter people (under 1.75 m) can pedal more comfortably, as the current position is too long. Improvements in this area are already underway.
As for the steppe, no worries thanks to the double adjustment, seat and steppe arm. This model comes superbly equipped from the outset, offering excellent value for money. And of course, it's sea-approved (DIV 245).
