Chibitarel Deadrise
For those who've seen it before, the Chibitarel Deadrise bears a striking resemblance to the Gantarel Jr, another Jackall/Illex lure. However, even if it shares the same aesthetics, and its rather tight, long S-shaped swimming action, the major difference lies in the lure's breaks.
In fact, this Chibitarel Deadrise's special feature is that when it's no longer being reeled in, it lies on its side and rises to the surface, perfectly imitating a fish in agony.
Because of this particular swimming action, the head hook is placed on the side of the lure, so that it is well positioned when the lure floats sideways.
If an attack occurs during a retrieve, a second hook is placed on the stern to ensure a good hooking action.
Use
The Chibitarel Deadrise can be brought back at constant speed or jerked, but the most interesting thing, even if it may seem like a paradox, is not to bring it back!
Indeed, this is a hard swimbait that works very slowly. It's designed to fish precise areas with educated or inactive fish, not to quickly explore large expanses.
The best way to animate it is to bring it back a few metres, let it float on the surface for ten seconds or so without touching it, and so on.
In my experience, this animation works well on black bass. It has already brought me a good number of fish, often the big ones. I usually use the Megabass Vatalion 115F for this animation. With this Chibitarel Deadrise, the result should be just as effective, if not better!
So I'm putting it at the top of my list for black-bass fishing in the coming season. Of course, for pike, it looks just as good!
My opinion
The Gantarel is a lure I've come to appreciate, and to see it back under a different name and this ability to stand aside, makes this lure even more accomplished.
In my opinion, this is the ideal hard swimbait for black bass fishing.
Please note that the Chibitarel Deadrise is available in limited quantities at the moment, so don't delay too long in asking your retailer to order it for you, or order it directly from an online store that has it in stock.
