When fishing from the shore, reaching long distances is one of the problems you have to face. Thanks to the Santis 33, a bladed jig that moves horizontally, it's possible!

Santis 33

Ima's Santis 33 is a blend of bladed jig, wobbling spoon and hard lure, like a jerkbait minnow. It has a head that can be compared to a football-type sinker. This head acts in the same way as it would with a soft lure, and gives the lure stability, preventing it from spinning on itself, as well as a certain rolling action.

To give this lure a more realistic look, solid eyes are located on either side of the head.

Secondly, its body is flat, with a shape that resembles that of an undulating spoon. This leaf-like shape keeps the lure horizontal, prevents it from sinking steeply and spinning.

This bladed jig comes with 2 hooks.

Its construction and original hooks allow you to tackle big fish without risk. It has two hooks, like hard lures, whereas bladed jigs often have only one terminal hook.

Last but not least, the Santis 33 is finished off with a paddle, which slows down the swim of the lure, while making it more attractive with the flashes and vibrations it emits.

Swimming

Whereas a bladed jig usually doesn't really stand up and turns on itself when retrieved, the Santis 33, with its well-studied shape, stands in a horizontal position, with an angle that makes its head point slightly upwards.

Le Santis 33 remains horizontal when brought back.

It can be brought back to constant speed, or in sawtooth. It accepts retrieves at normal speed, as well as very fast retrieves. In both cases, its swimming action consists of rocking from side to side, also known as rolling.

Use

In freshwater, the most appropriate use for the Santis 33 is to seek out asp, and thus reach distant current veins. The bladed jig is already a well-known lure for asp, but this version offers something more convincing than a traditional bladed jig.

What's more, this lure doesn't twist the line, as it doesn't turn on itself, and that's a very good point when it comes to using it for casting and reeling!

At sea, its use is much broader and covers a wide range of species. For example, it can be used to fish for sea bass or bonito in the upper water layers, from shore or from a boat.

My opinion

The Santis 33 is a bladed jig specially designed for casting and retrieving. It brings something new to the table and, even if its swimming action doesn't rival that of a real swimming fish, the distances it can reach make it indispensable for reaching distant hunts and not getting caught unprepared.
