Perfection Loop
The perfection loop is a well-known knot among fly fishermen. It allows you to quickly create a very strong loop with any diameter of nylon. This loop is often used to place a fly in, giving it freedom of movement, unlike a knot that would attach directly to the hook ring.
For lure fishing, this freedom of movement is just as interesting, to allow the lure to have as few constraints as possible. What's more, the strength of this knot is excellent, and it's often used on fishing trips for strong, demanding fishing! In France, it's ideal for pike fishing with large lures, as well as catfish.
Suitable for use with any size of nylon or fluorocarbon, as it does not slip.
Creating the Perfection Loop
1 - Make a loop on the end to which you wish to attach the lure, and hold it in place by pinching it with your fingers. To make it easier to tie the knot, I recommend that the end be on top (against the thumb) and that you keep about ten centimetres of excess.

2 - Pass the ring of the lure to be attached around the protruding line.

3 - Grab the end of the wire and give it 1? turns around the initial loop, working upwards. Hold the assembly in position, pinching again with the same hand.

4 - Pull the line from the reel to enlarge the loop.

5 - Pass the lure inside the large loop, from back to front.

6 - Once the lure has passed, pull the line from the reel back in the other direction to tighten the large loop as much as possible.

7 - Make sure the thread is well positioned, moisten the knot and tighten it firmly. Cut off excess thread, leaving 2 to 3 millimeters.

And there you have it. It may seem complicated at first, but once you've mastered it, it's easy to do.
