Weekly material / Sleeper Craw by Megabass, a true-to-life crayfish!

After the Sleeper Gill and Dark Sleeper, the Megabass concept has now been adapted to a crayfish: the Sleeper Craw! Let's find out more about this new product, which has just hit the shelves!

Sleeper Craw

The Sleeper Craw, like the other lures in the series, is clearly designed for black-bass fishing, and the colors available reflect this. These colors revolve around black, khaki and red. For the moment, Ultimate Fishing offers twelve different colors, all quite similar to each other, so even the most fastidious angler will find something to his liking.

The hook hidden in the back is placed in a very soft part of the lure, which bends at the slightest pressure to encourage striking and release it well.

L'hameçon est bien caché.
The hook is well hidden.

The lure is ready to use, so there's no need to mount it on a jig or rubber jig thanks to its internal sinker. What's more, as the hook and lure are one, it won't tear, as would be the case with a classic craw + jig assembly.

The clamps are cut in half and have a hole at the bottom to hold rattles or attractant. These clamps are of course floating, which combined with the shape and position of the internal sinker, places the lure head up at rest.

On peut placer un rattle ou de l'attractant dans les pinces.
A rattle or attractant can be placed in the clamps.

Use

Apart from black bass, pike-perch and perch can also be targeted with this lure. At sea, I would add sea bass to this list, as it resembles a small lobster, a prey they appreciate.

Its shape and weight make it ideal for slow, bottom-dragging use.

My opinion

Craws no longer need to demonstrate their place in the lure boxes of black-bass anglers. We thought we'd covered them all, but this Sleeper Claw brings a dose of novelty, or at least perfects what we've already found. Megabass, with its internal sinker and concealed hook, has come up with a product that's complete from start to finish, and very realistic.

Note that its material (thermoplastic) does not tolerate contact with certain plasticizers found in traditional soft lures and can cause the lure to "melt". Like all lures in this family (thermoplastics, TPEs, TPAs, plastics) lastomers ) we strongly advise you to keep them in their original packaging, or in a special compartment in the box.
