Of course, one does not start such an activity without certain rules or recommendations to respect, nothing complicated. Some of them are regulatory like wearing a vest for example, others are just common sense measures.

  • The first trips will be safer with several people, preferably with a few experienced fishermen
  • Wearing a vest is mandatory, adapted to your morphology and in accordance with the distance
  • Clothing adapted to the conditions of the moment
  • Safety equipment checked and in compliance with the legislation
  • Current weather and forecast for the coming hours verified
  • Carry a reliable means of communication with you, telephone, VHF
  • Change of clothes in a waterproof bag
  • Bottle of water and some energy bars

This list is not exhaustive and will be completed as your experience on the water progresses, each one having different priorities. With these few recommendations, you will be able to discover the new spaces that are open to you. Strolling, family outings and fishing are what we are interested in.

All fishing techniques can be practiced on board a kayak, whether it is paddled or propelled, and both in fresh water and in the sea.

  • Fishing with soft lures on the fly or scratch
  • Fishing with hard lures, under or on the surface
  • Fishing with jigs
  • Fishing with livebait or bait
  • Fishing with tenya/madai/kabura
  • For the more skilled, fly fishing
  • Cephalopod fishing with jigs or baited cages
  • Even the installation of traps or swing sets for shellfish if your kayak is registered with the Maritime Affairs
  • Sight fishing for edges
  • Fishing on foot, your kayak will be able to drop you on rocks where nobody goes
  • Underwater hunting

Of course, in order to fish, you will have to comply with the legislation, be aware of the regulatory mesh size for the catch as well as the authorized quotas and the closing periods.

Respect the principle of family consumption, no need to stock up. Respect the biological rhythm of the species, and leave them alone during the reproduction period. These few recommendations, which are only common sense, will allow future generations to enjoy this leisure activity as we do today.
