Opportunities not to be missed

When a friend asks you if you're going out on Saturday, you look at the forecast and it's summer, you say yes!
This late season spoils us on the tip of Brittany, good weather, pleasant temperatures, no wind. And if on top of that there are high coefficients, it is difficult to resist¦ An autumnal session where we would have thought we were in summer, it is not to be missed.

For this exit by big coefficients, we decide to begin by fishing with the swimming fish, by letting us carry by the current of falling tide.
The fish are active and we start, as soon as we get in the water, to chain the catches, mainly sea bass, with fishes from 45 to 55 cm. They are not monsters, but the fight in the current is interesting.
Determining the choice of the swimming fish

The swimming fish used are Yo-zuri, 3DB Shad in 70 which swims in the 3 meters of depth and Deep Diver in 110 which goes down to 6 meters. It is important to use different lures to explore different water depths. I also take into account the height of water that remains under the lure.
If the bottom is 10 meters, I'll take a lure that swims halfway up and do the same for all water heights. When the water is clear as it was that day, this increases the range of the lures and a fish in 10 meters of water sees the lures from a distance. Arrived in funds of 15 meters, it is the blue fish which will be interested in our lures, horse mackerel and big mackerel also give us good fights.

The time of the tide is soon here and we take the opportunity to put our kayaks on the foreshore. Dungeness crabs are quite present at this time and we picked up a few. No need to turn over the rocks on this spot, they are barely buried in the sand in the well oxygenated water veinsâ?¦
Once the harvest is done, we take the opportunity to have a snack break and to rediscover the world of kayak fishing while waiting for the tide to change, a good moment that we should not miss. Direction of another spot, not far from our launch, we must not delay, because we have almost three quarters of an hour of navigation.
Choose the right spot

With our kayaks propelled and the rising tide, we are on the coveted spot at the right time. This spot is located at the level of floating pontoons and the fish are often posted below. It does not miss, the bass are well there, we will catch 5 or 6 each, well meshed in half an hour.
Of course, all these fish will be released in full form. Again we use swimming fish that swim in the 2.5 mètres depth. They have to swim under the pontoons and this is the right depth to release the labrax

After having a good time, it was time to go back, the area starting to be invaded by boards and sea oars. We had a good time on the water, with many fishes and several species, sea bass, mackerel, horse mackerel, paddlefish, and even a marbled torpedo ray which gave me a good discharge. It's risky to fish in a kayak, without forgetting our dear crustaceans.

These kayak trips under the Indian summer are often magical. Find a summary of this outing in video :
