Sunline, a company that develops, manufactures and controls the braid
Sunline is a Japanese company that has been manufacturing all types of fishing line (nylon, fluoro, braid...) for over 45 years. It is one of the few companies to manufacture, not to be confused with the brands that distribute braid which are more and more numerous.
Sunline's motivation has always been to develop thinner and stronger lines. Thanks to a real quality control on its products, Sunline is one of the brands in which fishermen can have confidence in the diameters and resistances announced on each line. These quality controls are carried out internally with numerous machines allowing us to test the resistance to knots, abrasion, UV, but also the glide and resonance of each line.
With quality products, made in Japan, the company is now a leader in its field in the land of the rising sun and in many other countries.
The Siglon ADV braid, a braid with integrated resin
For almost 2 years, Sunline has been offering a new generation braid named ADV for "advanced". This 8-strand braid is very innovative since it integrates a resin in its polyethylene fibers.
This DRT (deep resin technology) results in a completely waterproof braid, which prevents water from seeping between the fibers. Sunline has found that even on high-end braids with optimal braiding speed and tension, air always remains in the fibers. This absorbs water and never dries out completely, promoting mildew and weakening the braid, which reduces its life.
With this impermeability, the ADV braid has an unequalled penetration in the water. This is particularly interesting for deep sea fishing or for fishing in the current, thus avoiding softness in the streamer.

This braid is very flexible and also has a very good glide in the rings. An asset to gain in casting distance, here also tests were carried out with identical diameters on 8 strands braids of the firm or competing brands. 100% of the casts were further away with the ADV, with the same rod, the same reel, and the same casting lead of course.
Another test carried out is the abrasion resistance. Here again, ADV excels since it has proven to be 4 times more resistant than a traditional 8-strand braid. This test is performed with a machine that rubs abrasive paper against the braid until it breaks. While the classic braid (a top of the range 8 strands from major brands) broke after 135 passes, the Sunline ADV resisted until the 404th pass!
A wide enough range and a reasonable price
The Sunline ADV braid is available in 8 different diameters ranging from PE0.6 to PE2.5 for 150m spools and from PE1 to PE5 for 300m spools and strong fishing.
Whatever the diameter, this braid is available in either turquoise blue or multicolor, marked every meter and changing color every 10 meters. This makes it easy to know at what depth the lure or bait is, ideal for sea fishing.

Offered in public sales price at 44.90 euros the 150 m reel or 89.90 euros the 300 m reel, it is clearly in the top of the range without exceeding the prices offered on the market by competitors.
My personal opinion
In order to be as objective as possible, I allowed myself a full season of fishing before making my first feedback on this braid.
I have mounted a 150 m spool of turquoise blue PE0,6 for trout and perch on a Daiwa exist 2506 and a home made 721Xray rod (3-12 gr). And a 300 m spool of PE1 multicolor for sea fishing on a certate 4000 and a 733Xray (5-25 gr).

First observation, which is not always obvious with other brands, the braid does not lose its color when first put in the water. It did not fade after 1 year of use under the sun.
Then, I find that this braid is very quiet in the rings and offers a perfect glide, the first casts surprised me. On the same spots, with the same lures on the same combo as the previous session, I reached the opposite bank while previously, I always stayed a few meters from it.
At sea, still in comparison, since my fishing, my equipment and my spots have not changed in the meantime, I noticed a faster descent speed of the lure, although I went from PE1,2 to PE1. Maybe the ADV and its resin have something to do with it. In any case, I never broke neither the braid, nor the knot, even on tough fights on nice dentis or paddlefish for example.

Although I believe that the quality of the rod is the most important factor for the feedback from the bottom and the bites, the ADV braid also seems to be a good ally.
In short, this is a braid I trust and recommend. I have equipped this season two additional reels with PE0,8 and PE2 for stronger fishing.
