The market of pedal fishing kayaks is becoming more and more diversified. However, it is difficult to choose, I had the opportunity to test the Bora 350 for 2 years now. Characteristics, space on board and navigation, I give you my point of view.

Presentation and characteristics

As its name indicates, the Bora 350 is 3.50 m long and 82 cm wide. Its dimensions make it a kayak that already belongs to the category of "big" kayaks. It weighs 35 kg when empty and has a load capacity of 180 kg. Its weight may seem impressive, but it makes sense on the water when the sea is rough, offering great stability.

It is of course approved division 245, allowing you to go to sea legally if you are equipped with the necessary and mandatory safety equipment. It is on sale from 1449 euros TTC, much cheaper than its competitors, which is why I chose it.

An efficient means of propulsion

The Bora 350 is equipped with a propeller propulsion, much more efficient than the paddle propulsion. The movement is completely natural since it is the same as on a bicycle. Muscularly, the use of the legs and not the arms to move allows you to get much less tired than when using a classic kayak.

The main fishing advantage of this propeller pedal is the instant reverse, no need to operate any mechanism, pedaling backwards is enough to make the kayak move backwards. This is very important for all vertical sea and freshwater fishing.

Grâce à la marche arrière, s'arrêter sur un banc de perche est très facile !
Thanks to the reverse gear, stopping on a pole bench is very easy!

A non-negligible space on board

On a fishing kayak, it is very important to have enough space to carry both fishing equipment and especially safety equipment. As far as the fishing equipment is concerned, I take with me 4 rods and a baccan filled with my lure boxes, food and water.

All of my fishing gear fits in the space behind my seat, allowing me to have room in the front for the depth finder, transducer and battery. Small hatches in the center and front allow me to store bait, safety gear and sometimes my waterproof clothes if the weather is bad.

My experience on this kayak

I discovered, thanks to this kayak, the pleasure of fishing in the open sea, without engine noise and gasoline smell. The propulsion mode is still sporty but very pleasant to use. The dimensions of this kayak allow me to fish standing up, even in the sea, although this is especially practical in fresh water. I was able to tackle very big sea fish without any problems, some of them exceeding 30 kg, proving once again the stability of the Bora 350.
