As we mentioned earlier, the Glénan archipelago offers an exceptional diversity of spots and configurations. Sea bass can be sought in crystal-clear waters at a depth of 50cm with hard lures, or at a depth of 40m with soft lures. Obviously, this calls for very different equipment, all the more so if you take into account the weather variable which can alter the data. Here are the sets I use in this particular environment.

Medium traction
In areas 10 to 25m deep, using shads or tapered lures 15 to 20cm long and leaded between 30 and 50g, my favourite blank is the 807HM from NFC (North Fork Composites). With a length of 2.43m, tactile and sonorous, this blank is now the benchmark for this type of fishing. However, for those who prefer shorter rods, like my partner Matthieu, the 739IM of NFC does the job perfectly.
I paired this blank with a Certate 4000 and 8-strand Yo-Zuri braid in PE1.5.

Traction light, linear, scratch fishing
When I use slightly lighter lures (12-14cm shads, for example) with 18-35g sinker heads, I use the Statement 766 from Rodbuilder's Republic, my favorite of 2020. This 10-45g blank is very sonorous and has a playful tip action. Its characteristics make it perfect for scratching with light soft lures or for linear fishing with more substantial shads. The tip keeps the line taut at all times for this type of fishing, providing great comfort. To my great surprise, it's also a very pleasant blank to use with 13cm cranking jerk minnows.
For optimum balance, I paired it with a Luvias 3012 and PE1.2 braid.
For the same purpose, many people prefer the SJ736Xray of NFC.

Light fishing
For the lightest fishing with 10-12cm soft lures equipped with 10 to 18g lead heads and 10-11cm swimming fish, I use 2 blanks indiscriminately. The Statement 724 and the MB733Xray . The first is more "soft lures" and the second "hard, linear lures", and I choose which one to take before my outing, depending on the program I'm planning.
Equipped with a Vanquish 3000 and PE1 braid, they make perfectly balanced sets.

Complementary blanks
Although I've described my sets here, many other references are possible. What's more, for different uses, other blanks will prove more suitable.
On windy days, when drift speeds are higher, heavier lead heads are required, and in this case the MB809 or the Xray7108 are the blanks you'll need.
On the other hand, for aficionados of finesse who like to use 3-4 inch lures and 5g sinker heads, I recommend the SJ762 HM for its feedback and pitching performance, and the Xray732 . Combined with a 2500 reel and PE0.8 braid, you'll have the perfect package for fishing the Chamber.
