Playing with texture
Some soft plastics are quite stiff, you really need a very fast retrieve speed or a strong current to get them to swim. It is important to know that soft lures are made from plastisol, a paste obtained by diluting PVC in a liquid plasticizer. Thus we can obtain different texture of lure more or less hard depending on the plastisol used.
Generally the fisherman looks for the flexibility of the lure rather than its solidity. An ultra-flexible lure will swim at the slightest touch and is more attractive to fish. The good news is that it is possible to soften a lure. Simply take an old pot, fill it with water and put it on the stove. Once the water is boiling, you plunge your lures into the pot. Depending on the result you want to obtain, you wait between 10 seconds and one minute maximum before taking them out of the water. At this stage, the lures are still hot and malleable, so they should be placed in a container with cold water to let them rest before putting them away.
